Takes Top Award Australian sprint title holder for the 100,
200 and 400 metres in the 40 age bracket, Gianna Mogentale has won the most coveted
award possible for a sprinter. Nominated by her peers in NSW For the top
Australian Award in the Masters, Gianna added to her gold medal performances of
the Australian titles, with an impressive win for the Top Sprinter Male or Female
in Australian Masters Age Brackets for the year 2004. Gianna had a great year
last season and has followed this up with just as impressive year this year.
She won the World title for the 100metres in Brisbane in 2001 and has never been
beaten over this distance by people in the same age bracket since then. Has improved
greatly over the 400metres and has now been successful in all sprints plus the
two jumps of long and triple. Is also a member of highly successful masters clubs
relay teams and then state masters teams teaming with club mates, Liz Williams,
Ranell Hobson and Armidales Roberta Thompson, to field one of the most impressive
4 x 100 metres for some time to take out the Australian title in the recent titles
in a slick time of 50.3 Has been in the Champion of Champions Masters event
five times and has gained three seconds, this year just missing to take the title
by a mere 1/100th to an athlete she gave 8 metres start to. This was one of her
most impressive wins. Gianna was placed second in the Open womens country title
in 2005 and made the final of the state open 100metrs to be the oldest woman,
